Ana MarchandAna Marchand is born in Oporto and belongs to a family of 8 brothers and sisters. She was a student of the city's Fine Art University.
She starts with a career of teacher of design and then a teacher training. From 1980 onwards she was able to achieve a lifetime ambition and concentrate on becoming a full time professional painter. An avid traveller , she was all over the world , especially in Asia and India where she stays and works several times. She works with inspiring concepts such Infinity ; Randomness ; Chance ; Light.; Silence |
She uses the space of art as a place of becoming , where new parts of the Self can arise.
Since 1994 she practice Zen meditation.2017 she is ordained Zen nun of Soto Zen.
Her work was shown in several galeries and museums in Portugal and abroad.
She won scolarships from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian , Fundação Luso Americana and Fundação Oriente.
For the moment she is working and developing ttwo main projects:
Storia de la Luce- a work with several mediums- painting , Drawing , photography , film and poetry
The 4 notebooks of Benares – an exhibition of work done in Benares, an edition of artist book and a
film in colaboration with Catarina Mourão a portuguese filmmacker.
